Did you know you can give a baby a field onion to suck on to help their teething? Yeah, I was skeptical too, you know, another Mexican superstition - but guess what - he liked it! He looked like a bunny rabbit sucking on the little smelly white bulb with the long green stem dangling from his mouth like grass. He'd pop it out every once in a while and study it, fondling it with his little fingers, sort of surprised himself by his taste for this pungent stinky object. Guess it warms up their gums or something. It seems to work better than anis liqueur or tequila anyway!
